Delhi: there are so many legends associated with the origin of the name of Delhi. The people of Delhi are referred to as Dilliwallahs or Delhiites. The city is referenced in various idioms of the Northern Indo-Aryan languages . Examples include:

Abhi Dilli door hai or its persian version, Hanouz Dehli dour ast, literally meaning "Delhi is still far away", which is generically said about a task or journey still far from completion.

Dilli dilwalon ka shehr or Dilli Dilwalon ki meaning "Delhi belongs to the large-hearted/daring".

Aas-paas barse, Dilli pari tarse, literally meaning "!it pours all around, while Delhi lies parched". An allusion to the sometimes semi-arid climate of Delhi, it idiomatically refers to situations of deprivation when one is surrounded by plenty.

If you prefer to visit Delhi by underground here's a map!!!

How much can change?

How much has Delhi changed? Delhi is not always about its beauty , monuments , fashion and history --it's about its people , the true people of Delhi . . . in the streets! Whenever we talk about Delhi , all we say is how much has developed , time shows its marvel , how modernised Delhi has become! Is this really true? There is no denying the fact that Delhi has developed but not in its true sense! While business entrepreneurs are setting up new MNCs in Delhi , a majority of population  is still involved in local jobs, carrying on the cultural roots of India. A lot of people in Delhi work on the streets of Delhi as roadside vendors , selling handicrafts , peacock feathers , icecreams and a lot many things. Below are some pictures I clicked at Janpat, Cannaught Place - one of the most important shopping places in Delhi. Now you judge- Has Delhi seen a major change ?

A man selling fans amde out of peacock feathers to get relieved from excessive heat during summers!
